ParticipantHi
after 29 years I have to fit a tripod kit and gearbox tube for the first time 🙁
I have the parts but any tips on how to go about it are welcome.
The gearbox shaft has some play in it so does the tripod kit hold it and should I debor under the tub to seal it?
Thanks

You would do well to replace the tub support shaft (C00147088) whilst you at it otherwise the tripod carbon seal will quickly fail.
You’ll most likely need a 3 claw extractor to remove the old tripod. Putting the metal sprung band over the carbon seal and onto the shaft is best done using a short length of fine string or wire. As for debor, well likely as not the rubber tub gasket won’t need it in order to reseal but if you’ve got some handy?
HTH? 😀

Thanks Martin,
I had to saw the tripod off and that’s when I saw the support shaft(gearbox tube) was split so I have both parts. Is it easy to get the gearbox out? 😳

no need to remove gearbox .. cabinet off , tripod off , Big plastic nut off at bottom of tub .disconect all leads from tub
and sump hose , now its been a while since ive done one ….
now you should be able to pull the top up and to one side so you can remove the tub at an angle ,3 bolts hold the surport
shaft , and off you go replace the new surport shaft and rebuild . dont for get the tub seal lol , no glue or debore needed ..wow that brought some memories back , now iff ive forgot some thing please comment ..

I never even took the cabinet off, just releases the sides, take the spin drum out and pull the bellows seal off the spin spigot, then lift the top surround and spin container and lay it back, then you have complete access to the gearbox.
