ParticipantI’m hoping I can bring this back from the dead for a very good customer.
When I arrived to inspect this m/c door rim was busted open & the right side suspension rod had dropped down into the damper. I suspect however that the m/c may have been surging which I believe could be caused by the timer (904219906).
My question is, what is the best fix for the suspension? Do I just replace the dampers or is there a kit available with rods, bushes etc. I will also be looking into the availability of a timer from EMW.Allan.

Just the regular damper on these (C00199349). Use the old rubber mounts and washers.
As far as the Timer is concerned, if it’s the later one with the module on the back, then check out the module instead as causing the m/c to go OOB. The earlier one may be a timer switching problem IIRC?

There always used to be a suspension kit available for these which included everything. Not sure of the part number or if would now be obsolete, but they did exist. Rog. 🙂

Thanks for the replies 🙂
The timer is the early one with the module clipped to the side and I’m sure I’ve been told these can suffer from sudden surging.I’ve fitted the full suspension kit to later wm’s in past but wasn’t sure if it was still available or if it would fit this 95 series.

is it the right hand leg looking from the front?
never had that one go its normally the left hand one if you get a leak from the hose at the soap drawer,
i have not heard of surging from the pcb only due to loose taco magnet.February 8, 2011 at 9:20 pm #344048iadom

All of this range was prone to going violently OOB as it got older. Often very difficult to pin down. you would try the module,or the motor or the timer. Sometimes you fixed it sometimes not. I have also seen a failing armature cause it.
Most of the hard to solve ones we put down to timer faults. The internal contacts become worn or pitted and the spin can be switched on before the contacts for the wash/distribute make contact and machine lurches violently.
It became a real problem after they changed the door mechanism back to a pecker type and resulted in the pecker constantly being knocked of the end off the motor. 😥The ones with the small PCB at the back end of the motor often suffered from dry joints underneath the long connector block, soldered loads of them for OOB faults.

The leg was the right side looking from the front, on the later ones I did in the past the rods had jumped out and sometimes damaged the top plastic part of the damper.
I changed the armature on this about 12 months back and the motor and taco both seem fine, the speed surge is not constant hence I suspect the timer.February 9, 2011 at 11:22 am #344050electrofix

as machine is washing tap the timer with a screwdriver
if machine surges poss dirty timer contacts
check connector to module if not making good contact can cause thisDave

First place I check is IDC connection to tacho at motor end. Especially if it’s lost the cable tie which should hold it all firmly in place.

I would suspect that due to the age of this machine the motor plug will be the old six pin, two rows of three connector block, not fastened down with a cable tie but often prone to cables breaking at the amp tags.
