the doors on those machines can be a bit tight with a new seal. you may have to push the door to take the pressure off the door lock as you open it for a while

it will get easier over time

Ah, I see the problem with the door – the switch is ok. The glass bowl is held in place by 4 clips – 2 large ones on the side and 2 smaller ones at 6:00 and 12:00. Those clips aren’t holding the bowl in as it should apparently, and the bowl is sitting in a slightly lower position than it’s apparently supposed to. So, after having done all this work, I might as well fix this too. I’m hoping that those clips are still available – they seem to slide on to a tab, and then have a small screw that screws it in place.
By the way (as you all have been so kind….) I was trying to upload a photo of the bearings I took out. No seal on either side of them, just grease and bearing ‘balls’. Will keep trying to upload. No wonder my clothes were getting smeared with a bit of grease!

For some reasonI can’t upload – it says it’s due to my usergroup allowance, and I only have 389 bytes left…..???

know what you mean seen lots of them, some of them where the front bearing had fallen to bits making it more difficult to get out

the door bowl clips are a silly price now

Well, I am doing my first load of laundry, and everything is working perfectly. No leaks, washing and spinning as it should, etc. I’m going on to eBay now to order those clips. And I do want to thank you – I wouldn’t have been able to do this without all the information, recommendation for parts, etc. For about £30, my machine is up and running. Thank you so much…..
