Hotpoint American style fridge/freezer Model 8923

Been out to this one today, no cooling in fridge or freezer but a nice collection of ice and icicles in the freezer. Back seems to be frozen solid. Gas in running in a vacuum but frostback on suction line. Either its not defrosting or the doors been left open. Has anyone out there had experience of these and their common faults. TA all

If the evaporator is frozen solid it will probl’y be defrost heaters i’ve changed a few for this could also be defrost timer located in fridge, more inclined to go the heater route though.

Thanks JJ – How do I get to them – Ive told the customer to defrost the appliance and I’ll be back to take it to bits on Wednesday.

You will have to remove icemaker then remove the back panel which gives access to evaporator area for the heaters the defrost timer is located in the control panel in the fridge.
