hotpoint aqaurius is stuck on prewash light

hi my mums dishwasher which is quite new, wont wash if i turn it on and off at the switch or the wall it doesnt fix it.

it has 4 lights rinse,prewash…… and it is constantly stuck on prewash even if i select reset or choose another setting.

the salt refill light also keeps flashing and when i open the salt refill cork it is full to the top with water ( not sure if its meant to be as its my first time trying to fill it up) ive refilled it with a full box of salts and it still flashes.

what could be causing it ? can it be fixed ? or is just done thanks

i think the two flashing lights are trying to tell me something and also ive been told the salt container shouldnt be full of water :S

Right, you’ve got an Indesit with a badge stuck on it. Looking at the programme lamps only (ignore the salt, that’s a side issue), left to right (or top to bottom) 1-4, which ones are flashing?

only prewash the other 3 are off

prewash is the first one from left to right

I think you’ll find that the base of the machine has flooded and that the flood protection system has activated.

Move the machine out, pull the plug, and lean the machine to one side. If you get water running out onto the floor (Put some towels down first…..) the machine has leaked. Getting rid of the water will re-set it and allow it to work.

However – if you get a repetition, there is a leak (as opposed to an overflow) somewhere, which will have to found and repaired.

Try that and get back to us.

i tried tipping it and it still didnt work :S

i then unattached the grey disposable tube from under the sink and tried to see if water could down into the dishwasher but it seemed blocked up.

ive tried to take the side part off to get look but it seems like i have to take it all apart just to remove the side panel.

how would i go about unblocking the Grey disposal tube ?

also its went from just light 1 flashing

now its just 2 and 3

Er, yes – lid first, then door outer panel, then lower front kick panel, then the side will come off. Masterpiece of design……… (withering irony………)

2+3 is no fill detected in the time allowed – have you turned the water off when you moved it out?

yes i had then i turned it back on and it is still flashing :S sorry im consused on door outer panel is that the actual door or another part i ve managed to get lid off no problem :S

The white metal outer door – you can’t access the screws for the kick board at the bottom with the door panel in place.
