I have nothing to do with Hotpoint, but have the above model machine which became very loud last night on the spin cycle. It appears that the tub has sealed bearings and is therefore a scrap machine. It’s a great shame as as an 11kg machine it has given us great service since we bought it about eight years ago.
We are in two minds as to whether to buy another or not as the same model is still available with several suppliers. We live in France and it has good feedback here. We bought it for around €700 and it’s possible to buy one at a discounted €400. We don’t want to go down in capacity and the cheapest of that capacity is a Candy around €70 cheaper. Should we go for the same?

Little to choose between, either, the Hotpoint has been 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} Indesit for many years and has since been taken over by Whirlpool but that is still likely to be produced in Italy or even in China, the Candy is even more likely to be Chinese built. Both considered ‘low end’ machines in the UK although even here the Aqualtis range did seem a little more reliable than the general Indesit offerings. Sadly the sealed drum is more or less the norm these days.
