ParticipantHi,
After all my recent troubles with Bosch, I am thinking of buying a Hotpoint Aqualtis AQXXD169PM.
I know these are a relatively new machine and reviews will be limited but does anyone out there know if these machines are any good?
I have heard “Hotpoint” is not a very good manufacturer and anyone in the know, steers clear.
Many thanks,
Pete

I think Which? magazine did cover this machine in their latest survey, but I’m not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure. You can ask to see the report in your local library, just ask for the 2007 magazines.
I remember there was one model they said not to touch, don’t remember if it’s the one you are referring to.

Basically Which lamblasted the Aqualtis range saying it was noisy, shoddily built and a host of other bad news.
Then for some strange reason some of the comments were retracted but they still don’t reckon the range too great at all.

I went out to a longstanding customer last week with one of these, only six months old. Called me out because they had lost a credit card in the machine.
The outer drum is the Indesit designed, completely sealed unit. I was unable to retrieve the credit card. They now have the option of putting up with the awful noise until hopefully the card breaks up and passes through into the very small sump hose or having a complete drum assy fitted. As this is due to user error they would be looking at a possible £150 plus bill. 😥

The Aqualtis has been out about a year now, and i’ve seen 3 one needed a pressure switch, another was a blocked pump and the 3rd one was a smashed door in Curry’s done in transit, going by the amount being sold and talking to other engineers they seem to be a reliable machine.

They’re not a very big seller to be honest, we’ve sold far less of them than equivalent priced Bosch, LG, AEG and the likes.
Although we do frequently get requests for a matching tumble dryer or washer dryer.

Thanks for the input guys – if not the Hotpoint, anyone recommend a similar machine?
Need to buy one ASAP – Always chose Bosch in the past but given recent troubles, the wife would kill me if I unveiled another one in the kitchen.
Cheers,
