Hi does anyone have any fault tips on this machine,I have one which apparently has done several different things including the drum not moving properly(ie a fraction back and forward, like a capacitor fault) ,i haven’t seen the machine do this yet.
It also appears to stop and just switches the pump on and off at regular intervals only split seconds at a time.
    any advice would be great

In an update to this,I now know that the symptoms are put the machine to either wash or spin, the machine does not run properly,it only stop starts about every 20 seconds ,ie the pump start -stops it does this for a while then flashes all the lights ,probably as its realised it has timed out,I assume.
There appears to be no motor action at all,as when it does fill at the beginning ,it doesn’t rotate the drum after it has filled.
The strange part is ,when put to the drain only cycle it starts the pump and the pump runs normally ,emptying the water from machine.
I have checked the pump, heater element and motor ,all appear to be giving the proper readings.
I also checked the display module inside door and could see nothing obvious there.
The main control board ,I took out and checked visually for any obvious burns,or dry joints but could see nothing.
Any help would be much appreciated,is there any aqualtis help on here ,in the shape of typical fault symptoms etc,and what is the info I read about on another thread please?

    Thanks
    Bruce

sounds like relay on the main board used to be a common prob on wd models but didnt cause lights to flash and it didnt cause any prob with pump they just stuggled to rotate

    Re: Hotpoint aqualtis aqxxl129pm uk

Thx hotdog ,I tried it again today and again the main fault is no motor action,I waited till it flashed all the lights along with led 2 ,which according to the manual is the motor blocked/or tacho fault.
I took the motor off and tested ,this time using the proper manual readings as a guide, the windings were all okay on 3.5 ohms, the protector was okay, however I got a reading of 110 ohms through the tacho, according to the manual it should read 170 ohms!
Does anyone know for certain that this is the proper readings they have listed or was there several motors that possibly vary in tacho readings?

Also ,if this is the likely fault ,is it likely changing the tacho generator as opposed to the whole motor ,be enough to cure it?

    Thanks

only one motor for that model so tacho read seems odd and cheapest option

Just found this thread in a search. How did you get on with that one Bruce, as I have my first Aqualtis to go and look at tomorrow which is stopping at various points in programme. No further info at this stage. Any pointers appreciated.

Thanks Bob. I’ve read a few more posts which turned up in a further search and I’m thinking might be worth looking at ribbon cable. It’s a AQXXL129PI is all I have till tomorrow evening. I’ll either update thread then with good news or pm you with more details.

Hi Mike ,I’m afraid I still have my 129 sitting in the shop looking sad and unwanted lol/
I haven’t gone any further on it yet to be honest ,but i am convinced it is the tacho ,mines was basically starting and stopping at certain points too,but also coincided with no spin too,so if yours is similar I would go with the tacho.hope it helps,oh and its well worth getting a copy of the manual that Bob is kindly offering as it does give some good info on the machine.

    Re: Hotpoint aqualtis aqxxl129pm uk

The technical stuff was very interesting and it was nice to know what to expect. So thanks to Bob for that. Must say I quite like 😯 the design :duck: . After all, this one’s about five years old, has had young family use and yet still looks like new. The operation is, as it says on the tin, “super silent” a big plus with me as I actually have a strong dislike of washing machine noise.
Anyway, I pulled the machine out to get at the plug for testing purposes. Once it was out and no suspect readings on test, I decided to have a look under the lid. All looked neat and tidy under there but I just gave the fascia board connector plug a push as you do and I felt it go in a further half a millimeter. Whether that is significant I don’t know but I then tried the machine and it refused to fault. Gave it 15′ ( as she said it normally faulted within 5′- 10′), then drained it and tried another programme, and a third. Still nil. Noted a black mould covered wall behind machine and suggested it might be feeling the damp.
Customer mentioned that at times, after faulting, she had been unable to turn it off and all lights had been flashing. So my thoughts turned to capacitors. However, as all was working well and I don’t like looking for needles in haystacks, I put it back in and assured her I’ll be back that way next week and will call again if necessary. Meanwhile, I’ll lay in a few spare capacitors – I’m suspicious it could be one of those blue rectangular ones 😉 .
    Mike.
