    Hi,

    I have a Hotpoint Aqualtis 11kg – AQ113F 4971.

Put the machine on this morning and heard a horrible scraping noise when the drum rotates.

Emptied the washing machine straight away and my hubby has been looking online for advise – but so far we are none the wiser.

We are thinking that something maybe stuck between the drum and the liner (?) and he has tried to remove the drum paddle – but is having no joy. We have tried to look through the holes in the drum to see if there is anything obvious – but again, can’t see anything and we have tried using a cable tie between the drum and liner – but … nothing.

Is there anything else we can try? Or could it be something completely unrelated to a foreign object stuck – the only reason I am thinking this may be the case is my daughter is home from Uni and used the machine …. didn’t check pockets, etc before using the machine yesterday :boops:

Any advise would be most welcomed 🙂

    Thank you

If it happened suddenly then it’s odds on that you have a foreign body between inner and outer drum. Bra wires most common, coins, keys and anything else left in pockets as well.

Unfortunately this ‘Indesit’ washing machine has a totally sealed drum.
If you are very lucky you may be able to fish the item out by removing the heating element from the back of the drum or by removing the large black sump hose. Otherwise it’s a new drum. 🙁

    Hi Iadom,

Thank you for your advise 🙂

I take it he would need to remove the back panel, he has managed to remove the ‘inspection’ panel – looked and didn’t have a clue so put it back on lol It is really hard to find any information on this model :/

‘Inspection panel’? Do you mean the lid?

Black sump hose can be accessed from underneath, heater by removing back panel.

    Hi,

Hubby called it an inspection panel?? On the back of the washing machine … I have no idea sorry lol

He has gone for some fresh air lol BUT I ‘think’ I may have found the problem??

Between the rubber tubing and the drum, there appears to be a small L shaped bracket that is loose and it is causing the scraping noise. My problem now is it something that has been accidently put in with the wash somehow …. or is it a part that is supposed to be fixed to the machine???

    Hi – me again.

Well, the bracket thing easily came out and I have moved the drum around and no noise!!

My only concern now is that this is something that has come off the washing machine – so I am worried to use it!! haha Why couldn’t it have been a coin or a bra wire!!

Hopefully you’ll be able to set my mind at rest lol Hubby is sure it has nothing to do with the washing machine, but always best to be safe 🙂

The good news: It is not part of the machine
The BAD news: It is out of hubbies pocket, he’s been DIY’ing again and left a bit out of that Ikea flatpack I reckon. 😉

    Thanks Martin

I am pleased to say that the washing machine is on and working wonderfully!!

I think hubby AND daughter may have a bit to answer to lol

Feeling a bit stupid now asking about the bracket – but if you don’t know … you don’t know 😳

Just pleased the problem is solved and I will have something clean to wear to work tomorrow lol

Thank you for your help 🙂
