Hi. Before I rush off with my hand grasping a wad of cash to buy a new tank I noticed on this hotpoint aq113d697iuk that the top and front weights are held on by helicoil springs instead of the usual self tapper bolts…….oh what fun! Question is how the hell do you get the weights off? Is there a special tool? Had a scout on i/net and can`t find any info on this! Any ideas please.

if its under 5 years old get hotpoint to do it (5 year part warranty)

if its over scrap it as you will fix the tub and the electronics might fail

Yeah special tool is needed to remove the springs, not sure if one is available to buy as no part number was supplied. Regardless if it is under 5yrs or over 5yrs the best way to get it repaired is through Hotpoint. Just priced the tub you need and its £242stg.

Electronics as such dont give much trouble on these machines as its the 3phase Arciada boards that are used but I could nearly bet there is a hole on your door seal just beside the door interlock and also the pumps get a bit rattley on these after a few years all of which bumps up the price of the parts you would need.

    Hi Gerry and Electrofix. Thanks.
£242!!! Hotpoint UK are doing these tanks at 109 quid delivered but it is true that I`ve seen them as high as nearly 200 quid which is a rip off ( yourspares ). But, whatever the price if I can`t get the coil springs out it is a hopeless case. Told her to go to Hotpoint since under 5 years old if she wants to bother with the offending contraption.
