ParticipantSo far, I have removed the heating element, descaled it, refitted everything.
30 ohms resistance on the heating element. Thermister has some readings.
I can touch the water in the drum if I turn on cotton 90°, it’s hot to touch. Not scalding hot.
the issue is the machine keeps spinning with water inside.
is there a way to check if the machine has a fault?
would a thermister, the small thing in heating element which I believe is the temperature sensor, failure cause such behaviour?this machine does not have a display to give me any error codes.
it works fine with fast wash.
maybe I am just not giving enough time in other modes, they do have a 3 hour cycle time!July 26, 2025 at 8:02 am #493369electrofix
Moderatorok
if you set a programme, the machine fills and starts to wash . Does the drum turn at excessive speed at this point ?Dave

ParticipantHi Dave, sorry was having a bad day.
If I set any programme that’s 30° or less, it works. I know this because the fast wash works fine and it doesn’t allow me to set more than 30°.
It works as in it works fine. Washes, rinses, dries and stops as normal.I tried setting cotton 90°, it takes cold water in, the cycle starts spinning slowly. Left for few turns and right for few turns. Then I think it heats up. and left for few turns and right for few turns. It heats up and I know this because I opened the door and touched the water inside. Also, the meter reading is unto 2000w consumption at that time.
I am suspecting if the water doesn’t go up to 90°, it will keep doing this indefinitely and never go to the next stage of the cycle, if my explanation makes sense.
Now, I don’t know how to check if the machine works fine and heats upto 90°. Would you suggest running a full cotton cycle for 3 hours, and see if it does what it needs to do?

Moderatorah so the title is a bit misleading
what your saying is the machine keeps washing and washing and does not proceed
cant remember but i think your machine may be hot and cold fill so you heat at 30 degrees may be the hot fill
first thing i would do is check if the heater has blown and you can do this with a multi meter if you have got one and can use it

ParticipantIt says 30 ohms resistance across live and neutral on the heating element.
100K across live and earth.i am pretty sure it takes in cold water, no?

Moderatordid you check heater to earth with the wires disconnected as 100k to earth is way too low
would expect over 1 meg ohm at the very least and some machines get upset at that level and cause all sorts of problems so over 5 M ohm would be a lot better
