    Hi,
I hope somebody might be able to help. My tumble dryer (hotpoint aquarium VTD00) hasn’t had a lot of use and is only about 3 years old.
Last week it wouldn’t work. When the door was closed and the machine started, the drum remained static, it hummed and began to smell of burning. It was turned off smartish.
I’ve dismantled it a little and cleaned out the fluff. There doesn’t seem to be any evidence of burning. When set in operation all it needs is a little push on the drum and then it seems to work fine until it stops. Once stopped it seems to lack the power to overcome the inertia to get going again.
The band seems OK. The fan, element, motor and the capacitor (I think) all show no sign of damage.
Can anybody recommend a course of action? I would like to attempt the repair myself.
    Thanks in advance,
    James

    The capacitor is knackered.

Perhaps it is because you have been keeping fish in it. :rotl:

    Try Aquarius. 😉

    Bazza is spot on BTW.
