ParticipantMy washing machine has started making a rattling noise during the wash, it won’t do the final spin, flashing the spin LED instead, finaly the drum does not feel secure, you can wobble it about quiute a lot.
According to the manual the flashing LED meens that the load isn’t balanced, however it does it for every wash.
The only similar problem I’ve found on this forum sugested checking the dampers. Does this seem reasonable?
Thanks – Christopher

Possibly the dampers or the bearings may have failed also.
With either you would normally have noticed an increase in noise on the spin cycle previously.
Model number please also 🙂
Dave.

You didn’t respond to Dave’s question so I will add to it if I may by suggesting you try it empty, set it onto spin and see if it spins OK? My guess, like Dave’s is that your drum bearings are possibly very noisy at the moment?
Does it make a rubblin’ racket I wonder?

Very reasonable, the screws holding the dampers to the chassis do occasionally come adrift, also the plastic peg securing the top of each damper to the tub can come out, this normally only happens if they have not been replaced on an outer drum change. Simple to check, unplug first lean the machine backwards against a cupboard or a wall and shine a torch underneath. It will be obvious if the dampers are adrift.
