    Hello,

I see the ukwg shop sells a number of door seals for Hotpoint washing machines; all around the twenty pound mark. My mother-in-law has been quoted one hundred and twenty pounds to have one replaced. Is it that it’s a big and difficult job to justify one hundred pounds labour or could I have a go at doing it myself?

It is a Hotpoint aquarius 1200. I thought that “aquarius 1200” was the model number but having done a search on this forum to see if anyone has asked before, I see that there is supposed to be another code beginning “wm”. I’ll ask and add the number when I find out.

    Thanks in adavance.

Re: Hotpoint Aquarius 1200 door seal

1200 is the spin speed. 😉

Model number is on the console, far right under the on/off switch or inside the door near the hinge.

If you are in any way handy with a screwdriver then it is a fairly simple job. Be sure to remove the plug first. A lot of engineers will do it without removing the front panel but it might be the best thing to do for a first timer. 🙂

Thanks. I had realised that the 1200 was the spin speed because my own machine is a hotpoint 1600 something. I seem to remember reading something here that said spins above 1200 (or was it 1400?) aren’t any better? I was just expecting the shop would have said “door seal for aquarius 1200” rather than door seal for “wm123”

Thanks for your fast reply. Is it just a matter of removing the front of the machine and everything being obvious once you have done that?

    Thanks again.

You wouldn’t go and ask for an oil filter for a Ford that does 125 mph now, would you. 😛
The Aquarius name has been used for over 25 years.

Really need model number to be specific.

There are at least five or six different seals that would fit a Hotpoint machine that spins at 1200 rpm.

Most Hotpoint machines have removable front panels, its genrally fairly obvious, console panel released and door lock, screws top and bottom of the panel.
