ParticipantHi
How does Ready to Wear and other settings work?
When I use these the drier will randomly stop and beep.
I don’t know if this is because there are sensors which possibly have lint or fluff on or if there’s a common issue ?

Moderatorcoomon issues on these is poor maintanence as the condensor is hard to clean properly

ParticipantI wipe inside the drier where the condenser sits so I get most of the fluff and put the condenser unit in the shower.
I’ve also tried to put my hand/arm inside round the bend at the back. Is there a common place on the Hotpoint aquarius where there might be fluff somewhere? How do the sensors work? Where are they?

Moderatorhave you looked through the condensor with a torch to make sure its clear front to back ?
have you looked at the fluff filter to make sure its not clogged, hold it up to the light and make sure its clear

ParticipantYes, I thinking if taking the pump and float switch apart? Could fluff get there? Ta

Moderatoryes but then you would get a container full light even if the draw is empty

ParticipantI took the float switch and pump apart. There was a little fluff there which I’ve cleaned. There was some water in the reservoir but not enough to set off the float switch. Should this be dry or is some water normal?
After a good clean it still only runs the Settings like Ready to Wear for a few minutes.
I still have the 90 and 60 minute settings. What bugs me is 60 isn’t quite enough, 90 is too much hence why I’d like the interactive Ready to Wear setting back.

ParticipantRe-reading the manual it sounds like the tumble drier is intelligent enough to dry at a duration to suit the clothes. The manual gives times for each program but also states they may take longer with a maximum of 5 hours so therefore its clearly suggesting the machine has the ability to detect the dryness of clothes.
Looks at the machine I can’t see any sensors or wires at the area of the condenser bottle, there’s nothing around the condenser unit and in the rear chamber just a small pump and float switch?
I can’t see where else there could be anything??

Moderatorthere are 2 ways of sensing dryness
1 damp sensor, a metal plate in the drum the the wet clothes touch
2 a sensor on the heater and another at the at the front normally where the filter comes out. hot air enters the dryer at a given temp, goes through wet clothes which cools it and exist the drum over the second sensor. the temp difference is how dry the clothes are
