ParticipantModel: Hotpoint Aquarius Condenser Dryer
Model No: TDC32
Problem: Keeps cutting out and tripping electric.
I’ve had our tumble dryer just over 5 years now. After approx. 10 minutes the dryer kept stopping. It then started tripping our electric and at this point i stopped using it.
Can anyone give me any ideas as to what is wrong with it and if its easily and cheaply fixable. I’ve cleaned it throughly and can see no broken wires.
Any contacts for people who do free call outs in Leicestershire / Rutland will also be greatly received.
PLease Help
Many thanks

Hi
Nobody is going to work for free, engineers have to earn a wage to pay the bills the same as everyone else.
And they would not come out for free to tell you whats wrong, so you can then repair it your self.Washman

I wouldn’t even attempt to repair it myself hence the reason for asking for advice.
I was just after information via here or through a free call out whether its worth fixing or not. I can understand that people have to earn money, but if the whole call out and repair costs are above the price of a new one dryer then i would be losing money, something i can’t afford to do.
I’ve used free call outs before in the past so i know that they used to be, and hopefully still, available.

Participantso you want someone to come and give you a price, and if you dont think its viable, they walk away with nothing?
in the free van, with free insurance and petrol and road tax, with the free phone in his pocket on a free contract
maybe he should just fix it for free to with those free parts that are in his free van, using his free tools
u see where were coming from?

i can see both points but i was only after advise regarding my appliance.
Your replies were not very friendly, particularly this being my first time on this forum.
Some companies do offer free call outs and i was wanting to know if anyone knew of anyone, not a run down of expenses companies occur by having to travel to people’s homes. If you didn’t have information regarding my appliance or area then why bother replying other than to offend.
Fair enough everyone has to earn a living, but most of us in the current economic climate also need to save as well, especially me. You don’t know me or my current circumstances so please be careful next time you reply to someone just exactly what you put.

Participantit isnt designed to offend, just state fact
everyones call out fee differs… most people dont do free call outs, some charge a diagnosis fee, which is deducted from the final repair bill
as for advice.. have you tried it again
?it could just be a damp element.. if it still does it, then take of the rear banjo shaped panel and dry it out with a hairdryer
if none of this works, its looking like a new element is required
expect to pay £85 – £100 if the elements goosed
but, like i say, it differs greatly
does that help?
oh and unplug it if your looking
