Any help would be gratefully received!

My Aquarius DF61 has been erratic for some time now. It drains perfectly but on the washing cycles it sometimes does not fill. Could there be a blockage or an air lock? The first time it happened I removed the bottom rotor arm and blew down the tube with some rubber tubing. Bits seemed to some out and it worked for a few weeks. Last week it stopped filling again, but again, blowing down the tubes seemed to clear it. It keeps doing this, but now more and more regularly, so it is either getting more and more blocked or there is another problem. I have tried:
Tipping the machine to 45 degrees to allow water to drain out.
Puttng hot water into the machine and blowing it around to dry and dissolve any grease.
Yesterday I removed the sides to have a look and found that the large rectangular plastic thing (!!) with the pipes all attached on the left had a large amount of dirty gunk in the top of it stopping what looked like a little valve from going up and down. Thinking I was very clever I removed this very carefully and spent about an hour cleaning it out with hot water and washing powder!! Once it was nice and clean I replaced it. The machine seemed to work fine but then again frustratingly it stopped allowing water in about ½ way through the cycle.

Are there any more tubes that I can easily check for grease or does anyone suspect anything else? Thanks again. ❓

Re: Hotpoint Aquarius DF 61 Not Filling Every time

Coincidentally I have a Hotpoint DF61 which has developed the self same fault as yours this week.
The pump is working normally, but it isn’t taking water. My filters are clear, so I am assuming the water inlet valve is stuck. I managed to clear it on Thursday, not really finding anything wrong, and it successfully completed 2 washes, but today it is stuck again.
My question is :- where do you find the inlet valve? I found an impeller thing at the base of the reservoir which I assume to be the drain pump (??).
At the moment I am basically calling it a write-off and loath to call in a repair man as it is 5 years old.
    All help gratefully received.

Very often they get gunge blocking the pipe that enters the tub from the water level device. And it needs to be cleaned out ( in both cases above I suspect). Easy job for and expert (see the link I’ve given to Repairs @ below 😉 )

Thanks. Sounds not too serious, then.
Where do I start looking for the inlet pipe?

Deep within your machine and I seriously advise you seek professional help if you are the least bit unsure? (see below) 🙂

Re: Hotpoint Aquarius DF 61 Not Filling Every time

Thanks anyway for your concern, but please don’t patronise me. I asked a simple question. The only reason I asked it is that I have no access to a diagram.
I am a qualified chemical engineer, and have a good appreciation of equipment safety, and a good understanding of how these things work. All I lack is a drawing.
Sorry, I thought this was a help forum. When I ask for the location of a component, how do you expect me to react when told “Deep inside your machine”?

Please read and understand. We cannot legally tell you exactly how to repair your appliance. Martin has given you a pointer as to the likely problem, you have to work it out from there.

Thank you. Yes, I can see your point of view, but you must also try to see mine.
If you read my posts carefully, I do not ask how to repair the fault. All I ask is the location of the likely blockage.
I am sorry if any offence was taken by my previous post, but I don’t want to be treated like a simpleton, which is how it came over.

Looks like we’re on are own PDavies! I’ve got a physics degree so betweeen us we should stand some chance of sorting this out!! I’ve started to penetrate deeper into the workings of my machine – I’ll let you know if I get anywhere!
my email is phillips@goodleigh.freeserve.co.uk if you want to contact me.
