I have a Hotpoint WMF540 Aquarius washing machine. when I select a wash cycle and press start it does nothing for a few minutes and then ‘door’ flashes up on the display. the door is shut tight but doesn’t appear to have internally locked. machine won’t start unless the door is locked, what can I do?

    Re: hotpoint aquarius door fault

It could be a motor fault, poor motor plug connections or worn motor brushes can causae this fault.

It could also be a broken spring in the door handle area.

Be sure to remove the mains plug if you intend to have a look inside.

    hi

    thanks for the reply.

I’ve ordered a new interlock so will see if that cures the prob, if not then its prob going to be a case of calling an expert out 😉 I’m only in Rochdale so do does any know any local specialists? I’d prefer to pay a local specialist than line the pockets of a national retial group.

    Thanks

    Iain

Click on the web link under my avatar and details. 😉

PS. I would doubt that the doorlock is faulty.
