My tumble dryer has stopped ‘Auto Drying’. On starting the cycle, the ‘Auto Dry’ indicator illuminates for a couple of minutes and then goes out. The cycle will then run down to a stop with the contents still wet.
The machine works ok when using the normal ‘timed’cycle.
What component ‘senses’ the dryness of the contents? The machine is several years old and probably just needs a good clean of the sensor!

It only works when the HIGH HEAT setting is selected so maybe that button has not been depressed maybe?
Re: Hotpoint Aquarius Dryer Model TDL31P Not ‘Auto Drying’
Martin – Thanks for your comment, but the Auto Dry light will only come on if the High Heat is selected so that is ok. The Auto Dry cycle is not drying the clothes so I am assuming there must be some sort of ‘drying’ sensor that is causing the problem. – DM

Hi Guys – I’ve got the lid off the machine and cannot see anything obvious other than a lot of fluff!! Any further tips on why my dryer is not ‘auto drying’?
