ParticipantI have taken the motor off the machine because the brushes are worn there is no makers name on it I am having a job to find the correct part online, the brush holders are all joined together via.. i can only describe it like a plastic horse shoe affair there is six screws that hold it on to the motor which also includes the electrical connector, I cannot remove the brush holders as they are part of the this “plastic horse shoe” unless it is possible to renew just the carbon brush itself i have asked some retailers if they stock this part but have had no replies if anyone can supply me with the part number or where i can obtain some i would be grateful.

I have replaced the brushes no problem but i cant for the life of me get the belt back on, there is such a tiny space to fiddle with it with just a small access panel to do it through. I have tried putting the belt on the motor first but cant then bolt the motor in place, Am i missing something here or does anyone know of an easy way to do this.

Replace the motor onto the machine.
Tilt the machine forward until it rests securely on a wall using a cloth to stop it marking the machine.
Place the belt onto the motor a reaching up with the rest of the belt place it around part of the drive-wheel… as you do so, turn the wheel until the belt is fully on the wheel.March 11, 2012 at 11:29 am #370324Glg

Thankyou very much for the fast reply I’ll give it a try, my only concern is getting my hand up to put the belt on the drive wheel which I can only just reach with one hand, can you tell me does the top or lid of the machine come off and if it does would that enable me to have a bit more room reaching down

Its dead easy, remove top ( two screws underneath little plastic inserts at side ) Get a large plastic bag tie (cable wrap) and reaching down from the top, lash the belt tightly to the drum pulley, allow the belt to hang down and place it loosely over the motor pulley and then put your hand inside the drum and rotate the belt onto the drum pulley. Give it a swift turn once it is on and that will snap off the bag tie, takes seconds without any risk of removing several layers of skin. 8)

Ok these ideas do sound easy sorry to be a pain in the neck the machine is my daughters which is why i cant tell at this moment if the top comes off and I have suffered two strokes so having my head upside down as i did yesterday isn’t a good idea.
Thankyou to you all once again for helping me out I am sure i shall be able to do it now 😀March 11, 2012 at 12:03 pm #370327iadom

There are two small plastic covers on either side of the top at the front, prise these off to reveal the screws. Lift the front of the top slightly then push back to release.
