hotpoint aquarius FDF784 making loud noise at start

My Hotpoint Aquarius FDF784 has suddenly started making a loud noise at start before the water goes in, also during part of the cycle – I think it is when it is emptying. – It has a 5 year parts guarantee – but not sure if it would be cheaper to get my local repair man out – last time he charged £20 per hour and I am not sure what the rate is for “Hotpoint” engineer – or is it something I can fix myself (total novice but can do simple things) – Help!

chances are there is something in the pump that needs removing
so the local guy will be cheaper

prob not a novice job at hoptoint put these pump in very bad places
