ParticipantHi,
Dishwasher: Hotpoint Aquarius FDM 550
I’ve acquired the above dishwasher from friends, not working properly and previous one recently died, so looking to fix this one.
Put it onto a program it fills, and goes through the washing process, but the water doesn’t heat. When it stops it has flashing lights on the front panel, but I don’t have (and can’t find online) a manual and can’t find a reference online to this models lights, to interpret this.
The Salt, Rinse Aid and Start/Pause buttons flash, and usually (but not always) the drying light as well.
I’m mostly suspecting the heater, but presumably it could be something else such as a relay. So before I blow £40-50 on a new one, can anyone interpret the flashing light code for me, and suggest any other troubleshooting I need to do first?
Thanks
Chris French

I should change my friends if I was you.;)
An Indesit machine, both the heater which is part of the main circulation pump assembly and the main pcb are very prone to failure on these, also the door harness wiring is quite weak as well.
You should not order or change any component without first testing it in the case of the heater or visually examining it in case of the pcb.

Thanks. Right now if I can get a working machine for the price of a new heater and bit of time, as opposed to getting a new one, it’s worth the gamble it will fail again ina bit.
Well, still not been able to track down anything on the flashing lights. But a bit of investigation shows 240V AC being supplied to the heater when on the wash part of the cycle. So that suggests the heater has failed and the control circuitry is ok.

Salt & Rinse Aid lights flash on any and all error codes, drying light flashing is a fill related fault, possibly water turbine assy or faulty inlet valve allowing machine to fill when valve is switched off.
THESE are the same basic codes, some machines have a digital display to show the code.
Light 2 (Drying ) on your machine is F02.
