My machine’s door suddenly won’t close. All baskets are in as far as they are meant to go and there is nothing obstructing the door e.g dispenser drawer.
The latch/catch doesn’t seem to grip the metal hoop on the machine when trying to close door. Any ideas what may be causing this – is it mechanical or is there some kind of reset I can do using the buttons on the front of the machine?
    🙁

Possible that the door latch is already in the closed position. If you look into the hole at the top of the door, there should be two “prongs” looking back at you. If the hole appears to be blocked, it will be in the closed position. This is usually caused by the “loop” which it closes onto being set too high to engage/disengage properly.

The latch may, of course, have failed.

Power off if you intend to split the door to investigate.

Penguin, the engineer came and said that not only had the spring in the door latch/catch broken, but the mechanism had failed. He didn’t have the part so I had to wait another week before it was fixed.
The parts he replaced were the spring and a switch that has T125 Metalflex MS-385 on it. He also replaced the big Grey ITW Fastex grey catch/latch.
    All now ok.
Lucky I have five year perts/labour cover. 😆
