KeymasterMy Hotpoint Dishwasher started playing up & it turned out to be a kink in the hose… once repositioned it worked fine until a few weeks ago… I heard a bang & went in the kitchen to a poof of smoke! seemed to be coming from behind the controls… so I took the front off & the board looks burnt… has anyone experienced this before as I don’t want to start changing the board if it was something else that caused that to blow…
Thanks in advance 🙂

Its an Indesit dressed up as a Hotpoint.
The PCB’s are very flaky in their own right but it could well have been damaged by another component.
The only way forward is to remove the mains plug and visually and electrically test all wiring and components for insulation faults.

TBH that looks like a localised problem, that sort of damage is rarely caused by other components if ever. Is it possible that it could have suffered water ingress from the worktop above at any time?
Might have made a bit of a mess of the wiring harness though. 😥
There at least two different PCB’s for this machine and they are both around £60.00 ex vat.

Hi Iadom
Just seen your reply.. thanks
Yes I phoned our local parts shop & he said there are 2 pcbs… do you think I should just buy a new dishwasher or which part would u recommend to try first?
Thanks again 🙂

Difficult decision, if you feel up to replacing the PCB yourself then we would need the full serial number to ID the part.
It would still leave you with the same machine though. :rolls:
BSH group dishwashers are a much better option TBH.

My husband would be replacing the part yes… we can’t decide what to do as the dishwasher is only 4 and half years and nothing other than the kinked hose has ever gone wrong (other than this obviously!)
I will add the serial number when I get home and take it from there… thanks 🙂
