ParticipantHello. I have done a search for this but cannot find any similar problems, hence this post.
I have a Hotpoint Aquarius WD420. Earlier today I had a brief power outage which may be the trigger. The machine was on a wash/dry cycle and when I re-set the fuse-box the machine has stopped working.
I have tried pressing start/cancel but this has no effect, nor does pressing on/off. I have also turned this off at the plug for a while and back on again and have been able to open the door to remove the clothes (which seem to have been washed and spun). I can change the cycle etc. but this still does nothing.
But now I am getting the following lights flashing on and off about once a second: drying high heat; reduce creases; time saver; and the on/off switch is flashing about twice the rate. It makes a noise as if it’s pumping water out (but the machine looks empty) and this goes on for a few minutes and then stops but the lights still flash. The door unlocks though.
There’s nothing in the user manual and the trouble shooting section of the manual gives no additional information.
If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, that would be really helpful.
Thanks in advance!

Hi. There are 5 lights as below. The ones flashing are 1, 2 and 4.
– drying/high heat (flashing)
– reduce creases (flashing)
– rinse hold
– time saver (flashing)
– extra rinse… along with the on/off light which is on the right hand side of the panel.

S

Ta – it’s only 11 months old so we’re going to have to call the shop tomorrow to send someone out.

I have a similar problem but the only light on the left hand side thats flashing is the reduce creases light and on the right hand side the On/Off light is flashing too. Any ideas what this indicates ?

If it is light number 2 from top down then it is supposed to indicate that the pressure switch is stuck on empty.
Could be faulty pressure switch, bad connections, blockages in the pressure switch chamber or air pipe.

Hi Jim
Thanks for your exceptionally quick reply.
I had thought of the switch and have had a further look and it appears to be fine (without the spares to completely rule this out). The drain had been choked but i’ve cleared it all out and the pressure switch tube is spotless. All connections are fine but there is a slight sign of burning on the very edge of the main circuit board.
I tend to think that the CB needs replaced which is probably not worth it in the long run so a new machine is the result now lol.
Thank you for your help.
