    Hi all,

our Hotpoint Aquarius SDW60 trips the mains as soon as the socket is turned on – with the power switch on the dishwasher off. the socket itself is fine and works with other things. fuses all checked and fine.

I’ve looked around on other posts on the forum and it has been mentioned that a faulty mains suppressor can be responsible for this kind of problem..

I just wanted to ask whether this is one among lots of possible causes, or whether the symptoms narrow it down to the mains suppressor…

also, if this DOES sound like the thing to try – do people consider it to be a job for someone with no prior knowledge? I can operate a screwdriver, that’s about it…

thanks in advance for any thoughts!

    David

Could be the mains filter, could also be the wiring from the mains filter up to the on/off switch.

Usually a failure of the filter shows physical signs of damage, black burn marks or cracks in the filter itself.

It is located at the point where the mains cable enters into the machine.

Not something I would advise a complete novice to attempt TBH.

Okeydoke – thanks! I may try just having a peek to see if the damage you mention is showing…
