Can anyone kindly advise on what part to replace? Our Hotpoint Aquarius TCM570 tumble dryer works fine when it starts, but, the heater element cuts out when the drum halts and reverses and does not heat up again. If you then turn the timer back to zero, reset the time and start again it works as before without any thermostat reset or other intervention but cuts out as soon as it reverses.

The heater should be switched off when the drum reverses. The reverse/no heat cycle should only last about 10 seconds then it should stop and reverse for long time with the heater back on.

Does the machine reverse for a few seconds and then stop and go the other way for 10 minutes or so before reversing again or does it keep going for a long time in both directions.

Can only surmise that the control timer has a sticking contact although it is a fault that I have encountered only once in the past.

Sounds like you need a new control timer, part number C00291191, around £46.00.

Thank you, I did wonder if that was the problem. Your advice much appreciated.
