Hi dnaxton
Looks like a Snurble Grip Thribley to me – but it’s an unusual design. Is the machine a ‘grey’ import from the continent perhaps?

Cheers for your very help reply.
The Snurble Grip Thribley is the part behind the brass/copper strip.

Earth strap. No longer fitted on newer machines as the drum now runs on a phosphour bronze bearing rather than the old Polypenco plastic one.

No.
Causes – water getting into fan chamber and being thrown into the elements is a good one. Exploding motor start/run capacitor is also common.

It only blows a fuse when being used on the Hi Heat setting
Low heat is fine

Update:-
I have checked for foreign objects touching the element, none were present.
What I have noticed is that the clothes are drying quicker now on low heat than when we used Hi heat. (Before the problem)
Hi Heat just trips the breaker as it seems to get to hot. (I have a Safety breaker fitted to the end of the plug)
Low heat is also a lot hotter than before
So the question is
Is it a faulty element or is there a heat controlling unit inside somewhere.

Low heat works, high heat trips the breaker. High heat works by turning on a second set of heater coils. The heater is knackered, as per Helo_75s post.
