do you mean the felt seal?

i just scrape it all off, and clean it with white spirit!

theres a full kit for that, part number 1703080

inexpensive… includes front and back seal, bearing supports, shaft, rear bearing and drive pin

opps its a vtd00P my mistake it has the pear shaped rear bearing and a very thick front felt drum seal. only needing front seal machine sufferd damage caused by clothes caught in front seal. have tried parts from a kit front back seals new shaft but too mutch of a gap between drum and seal at front 😳

VTD00P just means its a Polar white machine.

There is only one drum front seal shown, a 1703414 which is the same one that is in the kit AFAIK.

yep same kit, if you fit the seals kit you can get away with 2 washers at back, if the gap is still too big check the cabinet is all square

Not easy to get it square when the steel is about 2 microns thick though :rolls:

The new seal is quite thin, the old one is often fluffed up a bit and may appear to be thicker.

A colleague was once asked to supply a new part for a Hotpoint Tumble Dryer and brought in the old one to the shop to make sure they got the right thing. What they brought in was a ring of compacted fluff which builds up round the actual felt seal 😆

On a similar note I once went to an old Hotpoint dryer, the one with the filter in the back of the drum. I pulled out the filter and there was an inch thick layer of multicoloured felt in it.

For some reason the customer thought this was the filter and very carefully removed the last fine layer of fluff before putting the thick wad back in the dryer. That was in the days before TOCs. 😆

got the dryer done.added the 2 washers and put it back together. the gap is at the very top of the drum i can feal it blowing out but back seal is fine so clothes should still dry ok vent hose is blowing ok customer is happy. but im just not happy with the overall quality of build of that kind of dryer

I know, I’ve had loads of bother with them. They only have to be sitting on an uneven patch of floor and they warp out of shape enough for the drum to scrape against the back panel 🙁
