Participantcan someone please help me. on putting a load on in my tumble drier after about half an hour the trip switch for my plug sockets went. reset this and found it was the 13amp fuse on my plug. i replaced this 3 times, the second 2 times as soon as i tried to start the drier the fuse blew straight away. i have realised there is an obvious problem and haven’t tried it again as to not damage the drier itself. i have taken the back and sides off my drier and cleaned it all, i have cleaned all around the seal on the drum, pulled the filter and cleaned the area where it lives as well and also cleaned the flexipipe and the entrance to this. should i give this another try now or should i inspect for something else first? hopefully someone will be able to help me. thanks.

Participanthow old is it?
earllier models were prone to the drum rubbing through the back plate and cutting through the heater wiresif you look just above the motor, where the drum meets the back panel, youll be able to see if its cut through.. the wires run quite close to that point
however you look at it, itll be a heater fault

helo if your talking about a grating sort of sound intermittently. then you’ve hit the nail right on the head. it’s been doing that for about 8 months now.

Participantwell, thats the answer then, the only real cure for that is a new drum if thats the case
but you can try packing the drum out with a couple of washers on the shaft

you were exactly right i did find the hole where you said, i also found the offendind wire as you said. i have managed to secure a small piece of metal over the hole and re-insulated the wiring. however now my drier runs fine (and makes less noise then before) but the heating element doesn’t work. could it be that the wire that got damaged could need rejointing or is there an internal fuse or other componant that could be damaged. hopefully someone will be able to help me cheers.

Participantcheck the wire, it could be broken
it could also be the cut out, theyre situated just over the heater
experience would suggest a damaged wire
