ParticipantProblems to date:
1. Dryer + on/off light flashes. – checked both heating element with multimeter which showed continuity.
(Continued to use machine for wash only cycles – worked fine for awhile.)
2. Some cycles did would not fully spin leaving clothes wet on finishing.
(Continued to use machine still.)
3. On switching on machine fuse in plug blows.
Any help would be appreciated.

A faulty element will always show “contunuity” and a multimeter is of little use establishing if that is due to an earth leak. The fuse going therefore concludes there is a likely problem there. Also the motor and the wiring harness need careful inspection whilst you’re at it! 😉

Thank you for the advice. Some more would be good 🙂
1 When you say there maybe an earth leak what exactly do you mean and what should i check/look for?
2 On checking wiring harness if you mean they should be fully plugged-in and therefore connected then i have done this already and therefore there doesnt appear to be any loose connections.
3 How do i check the motor? ..do you mean removing it and then checking with a multimeter?
Thanks

An earth insulation leak is where current is leaked to earth simply because of a breakdown in its electrical insulation. (eg: water leak on electrics, elements internal insulation broken and voltage passing through goes straight to earth).
The wiring harness to and from the heater and motor can rub against the cabinet and thus blow a RCD or 13amp fuse. And of course in order to check out the motor correctly removal is necessary.
Messing with electrics without this knowledge is dangerous in the extreme and my best advice for you is you seek professional help. Check out the engineer search facility on the Home page. 😀

A bit like asking me “how long is a piece of string?” in essence. 😉
