    Hi there,

Over the last week or so our machine has been switching itself off mid cycle (sometimes wahing sometimes drying) and now it has stopped heating. We had the probelem before (not heating) and the engineer said it was the thermstat that had gone.
Casued due to the machine being turned off at the wall mid way through drying hands up we were guilty of that (but no warning was on the litrature about this so felf a little bit agrrevied that this part is only covered the once)

but this latest round has nothing to do with our intervention, the machine just switched itself off a couple of times twice in one load (well under maximum weights, approx 3/4load)

Has anyone had similar things happen to them (machine switching itself off) and is there a way round this without an expensive visit from the repair man?

I have attended 4 of these machines to date, including one showing exactly your symptoms. Every single one has had a faulty control board. Furthermore, none of them accepted a repair on the machine.

You do have a 5 year parts warranty on the appliance; in this instance it would be in your favour to send for Hotpoint due to the expense of the part.
