hotpoint aquarius wd420 washer dryer

hi,anyone know why my hotpoint w/dryer has suddenly started to trip the main fuse box i have no electrical faults until the washer is turned on,someone suggested a faulty heating element and to try a spin cycle so element not on but it still tripped any help welcome or is this going to be a costly repair.all the best hank. 😕

regardless of whether the machine is on a spin, if the heater has an earth leak, it will trip the electric

the only way to be sure is to either disconnect it, or test it properly with a megger

if you choose to do either, make sure you unplug the machine before doing any work

theres only usually 4 reasons for blowing a fuse!

1 > broken wire somewhere (v v unlikely)
2 > wash heater down to earth
3> dryer heater down to earth
4 > motor down to earth

like i said, power off if investigating

hi,me again found wire had broken off heater element so disconnected other wire isolated them out of harms way and washer powered up with no tripping,so was it just the wire or shall i replace element anyway,also what reading should i be looking for on my test meter if known,thanks for the help so far.hank 😮

a broken wire off the element wouldnt cause it to trip

it more than likeley needs an element to be honest

available from uk white goods at a good price

hi, if the wire had come off the element it can short onto the heater box, had it several times!
