ParticipantThe Hotpoint Aquarius WDF740 handbook indicates that the inside crossbar of the soap dispenser tray can be lifted and the whole unit removed but I can’t get it to come out of its housing. Can anyone provide me with the secret, please? I’m thinking there might be a hidden tab which I haven’t located yet.

When you take the soap drawer out..have you removed the screws from the fromt of the soap drawer housing?

Oh sorry, my mistake..you just need to get the soap drawer out…
Should be a small tab at rear of drawer, you press down on (i think)Martin

Just checked what type you have.!
You open the drawer fully then slightly lift up underneath the rear of the drawer that is nearest the drawer housing, then it pulls out towards you leaving the front of the drawer in place.. A tad fiddly the first few times, but easy after then…Martin

Look at diagram of the drawer on page 12 of user manual..you lift at number 1 And pull towards you at number 2

Thanks. I’ve tried following that diagram several times but all I ever manage to do is further open the drawer just enough to be able to remove the blue conditioner channel cover so that I can at least get rid of the build up there. I assume the whole unit is supposed to come out, complete with its hinged front cover, but I’m already applying rather more forward pressure than I’m comfortable with and I’m worried I might break the hinge pin if I get any more forceful.
Edit: Looking at your earlier answer, I’m now thinking that only a section of the dispenser comes out and that the front cover remains in place so that, if I’m pulling on the hinge pin, I’m pulling in the wrong place. I’ll have another look. Does the crossbar come out.

Great! You have reached the eureka moment at last! 😀
Now, because it is no doubt well crudded up along the left edge adjacent to the front cover, you will need to ensure that you hold the front down whilst lifting the removable dispenser drawer. Gentle upward pressure and then pull out…….viola!

Voila, indeed. Simples once you realise that the tray slides along the door on tracks you don’t know are there until you’ve found them, as it were 🙂 I’m actually finding it easier to apply backward pressure on the end of the open door with the base of my thumb while using my fingers to pull the tray forward. Thanks for the help, Muv and Martin.
