We are the proud owners 😀 of a +5year old Hotpoint Aquarius 37. It has developed a out of balance rumble of earthquake like proportions. Having taken the top off and looked in, the flyweel has cut a groove in the plastic drum outer, this may also explain the occassional leak and burning plastic smell. No other faults or problems therefore reluctant to recycle. We suspect a worn bearing, any ideas other than replacing the lot? It’s only 2 months 3 weeks and 4 days out of the Hotpoint 5 year parts warranty, spooky!!!
    Many thanks.

If it has started to cut through the back of the drum with the pulley then you will need a rear drum half, drum support and drum seal. I would venture to suggest that it has been rather noisy for at least 2months, 3 weeks and five days 😉 To get as bad as yours has takes a fair while, you should never ignore a noise, no matter how insignificant it may seem. Cost of that repair from a local independent could be between £130.00 & £175.00.

    Jim.
