Hi all, a colleague at work has a Hotpoint Aquarius WMA48 washing machine which has decided not to work.

The issue is that the drum will not turn.

Ive asked him to test a few things and he has confirmed that there is no noise when the drum is manually rotated and the belt is intact and not broken.

He also said the that the brushes were replaced about 6 months ago and the machine worked ok since then.

Are there any other checks that can be made or common faults with the machine?

    Regards,

    Steve

Two or three different motors used on these, the Bosch one does occasionally take out the main circuit board if the brushes go down.

Also breaks in the wiring harness very close to the motor plug( give them a gentle tug ) and also were it runs past the large concrete weight at the front are common.

You can also remove the control PCB to examine without removing the connections by depressing the three small plastic retaining lugs.

If you see a black mark on the inside of the facia behind the PCB then you have got problems.

All of the above with the plug removed of course. 🙂

    Jim.
