Before I call an engineer to check, I wondered if there might be a simple solution to beforehand. My Hotpoint simply won’t spin, in any was or dry setting. It fills and drains ok and there is no error lights and unlocks fine. I’ve checked the belt and that’s fine. Could it be the motor?. It’s approx 29 months old. S/n 102096933. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Has the machine been heavily used, if so then the motor brushes would be the first thing to check.

I would say it’s used quite a lot. Is there a service manual that shows me where to get at the motor brushes?

Not a chance of service manuals we in the independent trade cannot get them either :(, I can tell you however that they are in the motor. 😉

Motor is easily accessible for removal by removing the back panel after you have unplugged of course.

Just a thought, this model can have either a 3 phase motor (NO BRUSHES) or a standard brush gear motor. We would need the full model number including any suffix, the serial number and the commercial code from the rating plate to identify.

Would also suggest it may be a little older than you think.;)
