ParticipantHello Everyone,
Having a nightmare with my Hotpoint AQXXF 149. It has been making a dodgy noise for a few weeks on spin (like a ping pong ball bouncing around) obviously left it alone as it was still working – tonight it has blown the fuses, leaked soapy water all over my floor (didn;t feel wet down the front of the machine), and no matter what I do I can’t get the door open. But worst of all its got my stroppy 13 year daughters PE kit in for tomorrow and I don’t think I can cope with the stress when she knows I can’t get it out – Help please !!! Thanks for reading. :rolls:March 10, 2010 at 11:48 pm #314584manicmummy

Oh sorry also – when you switch it back on it makes several click click noises (door noises) the flashes “Door” on the readout. Thanks.

Unplug the machine and drop the drain hose down into a bucket. When all the water has gone, remove the bottom kick panel. On the left is a yellow tag, pull it out and drag it down to pop the door open.
As for what’s actually wrong, I’d hazard a guess that the noise you could hear was a coin or similar foreign body rattling around inside which has now caught and punched a hole in the plastic drum. The water has landed on something electrical and blown the fuse.

Thank you Mr Penguin. Will have a go.
As for your views on the fault – is is an easily repairable one?
Thanks again.

No, if the tub is holed, the machine is scrap. Hotpoint will not repair the appliance under any sort of warranty as this is classed as user mis-use.
Despite the plastic of the tub being so thin that you can actually see the drum turning through the plastic….
A triumph of marketing over quality I’m afraid – the clothes never did swim like fish, either.

Morning – thanks again for all your help.
How can I tell if there is a hole in the tub – what would I need to look at – sorry if it’s really obvious.
Once I’ve got the hose and filter checked – do you think I should put another short wash on to see if it does the same?
Any advice as always gratefully received !
Finally, if I need to buy another – what would you go for? (4 kids, mad amount of washing) !
Thanks ! 😕
