ParticipantThe hotpoint aqualtis aqxxf149 machine lights up ok and you can select programs but then it fills up with water but then just sits there and does nothing. The door locks ok the drain pump works but i have noticed it sometimes when you hit the start button..it clicks then control panel starts cutting out with a click click sound together with the door lock but almost shorting the machine altogether.. i unplugged the motor and hit start again then the filter/plug at the back of machine where power comes in… went with a loud pop band machine went dead but i still managed to hit on/off and it came back on as normal followed by another loud pop sound from the filter/plug.. this time, machine didnt switch off just appeared as normal.. what could be the problem? I have a multimeter.. unsure how to use it… any help? I am a good listener/learner..

Do faulty door locks appear to work as normal but faulty? Is the filter/plug at back of machine the problem? Please help!

Have you tested the heating element?

I did check with multimeter and had bout 28 -38 or so reading… does the heating element cause a loud popping sound from the power lead filter at back of machine?

No.
Mains filter is back there, water valve and the mains cable. So is the motor and with no drum action I’d think it’s the front runner if the heater is okay.

The most likely suspect to be looking at.

how does one test a motor using a multimeter? i always work on an unplugged appliance. i am going to check if the door lock is faulty but it works fine because it locks the door. but i the power lead and filter making a pop sound sort of points to a mains filter fault? :rolls:
