Hotpoint BD31 double grill not working

Hi hope someone can help

My double grill stopped working as only one element is getting hot on the double grill setting.
Both elements seem to be getting hot when I select top oven.

Anyone help please

If you are certain that both elements are OK, and the only real way to do that is to test them with a megger or multimeter then the most likely cause is a failure of the top oven switch pack.

Part number 6201720.

Be sure to isolate from the mains if you intend to have a look yourself.

Which element is getting hot, the left or right one?

It’s the left element that gets hot.
I say that both work as when I turn on top oven they both seem to get hot (could be wrong)

Left element is the one that comes on when ‘single’ is selected. That does point ot a top oven selector switch failure. I would still suggest testing the right hand element electrically first.

Its much easier to change a faulty element that a selector switch.

How do I remove the element? do I just remove the centre bolt and pull it out? (mains off first)

Yes, might be easier if you remove the support bracket first.

well took the element out on Saturday and it was faulty.
so I have ordered a replacement and hope that will fix it.
