ParticipantHi,
I have been gifted an old but seemingly complete Hotpoint Bearing Tool V2 (C00194146), but without instructions. Could anyone help with instructions on how to use it properly please?
Thanks,
JonSeptember 24, 2013 at 4:12 pm #401723iadom

As far as I can remember these never came with instructions. There use was sometimes described in the old service manuals though.
TBH it is fairly straightforward and obvious really. I never use them for removing bearings except when the main inner bearing on WM type machines have totally collapsed, the small, sprung collar slots inside the old bearing shell and is then used to drag it out. I have a little trick to prevent it pulling loose from inside the bearing shell.
Always use the kit to refit new bearings but just use a huge hammer and cold chisel to get the old ones out.

Agree only use the split collar to get the outer race out. Shame don’t get to see many bearing changes anymore

Bummer, I want my money back, there was nothing like that in the box when I bought mine over 30 years ago. 😀

Thanks all for your help. The bearing tool I have is slightly different to the one in the instructions, I guess that’s because it’s a later V2 version. It doesn’t have a split ring, but has a variety of other adaptors. Certainly the instructions from Alan suggest how this one probably works so I’ll just have to give it a go. Looks like the instructions for the V2 kit come on a CD looking at the picture of the item on Masterpart.
Thanks again,

Main bearing change mayhem this week. 😀
One Hotpoint WM63, one Hotpoint WD61, two ISE mk1 CI555’s and one ISE 5-2 Vestel, up to now.
My trusty ‘knockometer’ is working overtime. 8)
Basher Jim. 😉
