I have a Hotpoint BFI620 dishwasher which has the 1st and 4th lights come on when the door is nearly closed. Nothing then happens. What does the error code indicate and is it worth fixing ? The dishwasher is over 7 years old. Thanks.

The fault or error codes for that dishwasher are listed here:

I’m not familiar with the model myself but, that doesn’t appear to be there from what I can see. But, that may depend on how you’re looking at it etc.

The BFI620 has only 4 indicator lights, from left to right: Intensive wash; Daily wash; Soaking; Eco. It is the far left (Intensive wash) and far right (Eco) which come on.

Error codes are given by flashing the lights, are they on steady or flashing. Will it not reset?

The lights give the appearance of being constantly on but actually are flashing very quickly. It will not reset, the lights come on as soon as the power is switched on, but all the lights including the power light go out if the door is more than about 3 inches open.

Could be worn or broken wiring in the door harness?
