think it was the o-ring not seated properly – reseated it, put the base back on….took the side off (:)) to watch it in a cycle and no leak.

New to the site and have to say you’ve all already saved me £99.98 on Hotpoints ridiculous call out! My heaters fine on my BFI620, so does that mean that my PCB is kaput? If so, can i buy new ones?

Thanks for that. Will order one and hope it works. Can’t believe that the problem with the lights isn’t in the owners handbook and Hotpoint Charge £100 (- 2p) for a call out! What a Rip off! Thanks for your advice. Just a quick one…is the PCB simple enough to replace for someone with a fair knowledge of white goods?

Firstly, bear in mind that i’m NOT a qualified whitegoods engineer
Second, have you eliminated any thermostat/thermistor/cutout/fusible link which may or may not be in circuit?Before jumping to the conclusion that it’s the PCB, you need to follow through the heater-circuit…..invariably, the wash set on the dial, corresponds with a specific temperature required to be” seen” -older machines had several different specific-temp thermoswitches,for this.
I suspect yours may well have a thermistor which the PCB “reads” to check if the temp. required has been reached.
Best wait-on for a more informed opinion, otherwise you’ll throw cash at it to diagnose by a process of elimination.
Most PCB’s are “plug’n play” but some need a bit of soldering.
not a difficult job if you have the basic skills 🙂

hi wings, whats the problem your getting?, if its no heat then possibly will be the PCB, but if its erratic lights, how did you check that the heater is ok? as a lot of the problems on these are when the heater tests ok across terminals but has a short to earth which you will need to ‘megger’ to check

)Hi, I saw this thread whilst searching for the exact same issue as the OP. @cockney steve you may not be an engineer but you speak a lot of sense. I’ve put a multimeter on the heater cylinder and found I was getting between 25.8 and 27.8 ohms depending on how steady I could keep my hands. I turned the juice on and flicked the multimeter to volts AC and expected to see 230 volts but nothing. Well 1 volt but that quickly trickled away to zero. I don’t want to assume that this is the board but, is it? I’ve taken it off and examined all the soldered joints with my jewellers loupe and can’t see any signs of burning. So I’ll throw it out there. Should I be following through the heater circuit before condemning the board and how would I do that?
