ParticipantOpened the door of he dishwasher to empty it…. found water at the bottom about 2 inches deep – and it had turned off (no power).
Looked at filter, no clogs there. bailed the water out – nothing blocking the hole as far as I can see.
I tried to locate the fuse for the dishwasher – but can’t find it! Its a built-in model and I would have assumed the fuse would have been in the switch above the worktop – but sadly no.
Lost…. dont know what to do. No blockages as far as I can tell, the outlet pipe isn’t kinked, the RCD hasnt tripped….. help! I have to wash up by hand at the moment!!! Don’t llike it!!

You should be able to access a plug or fused socket if your kitchen was installed by a competant firm, however, years of experience as all of my colleagues will testify reveals that you have a 1 in 10 chance of that. 😥 Have you looked in all the cupboards either side of the machine? Is it completely dead? If you don’t have the electrical test equipment or skills then it is engineer time I’m afraid. Click on the link in my sig to see if we have someone in your area. At this point I would advise you to remove the plug before proceeding further but you will have to find it first. 😉
PS, If you can see that the outlet pipe is not kinked, can you not see the mains plug?

I took the fascia board off at the bottom of the kitchen unit and saw the waste pipe curved nicely – i can’t see the back of course so i am guessing that its not kinked. I’d have to take out the dishwasher to check properly… (dont know how easy that is…?)
in a built in dishwasher with kitchen switches above the counter is it likely to have a plug as well and be plugged in, or will it just be wired to the switch? I took the front off the switch box and without taking all the wires out i couldnt see that there was any fuses. If there are some in there then i would take the time to check – but itdidnt look promising.

If you saw as many fitted kitchens ( badly fitted kitchens ) as we do then with regard to the question of the plug, it could be any of your suggestions and a few more exotic ones as well. More than likely you will have a 13 amp fused plug and wall socket behind the machine, isolated by the switch above, which is by far the best and safest option. If you cannot access the plug without removing the dishwasher and it is completely dead then it is time to seek someone with the correct tools and test equipment.
If the fuse has blown then you should only try one new fuse at the most before having the machine looked at. -
