ParticipantOur Hotpoint BFI620 is stuck on the final drain of the full programme. It remained on overnight, and the next time it was used it ran through the cycle and got stuck at this point again.
Now, although it beeps to confirm a new programme has been selected, it then goes straight to the drain cycle and remains stuck there.
Any advice as to what to check, or what the likely cause (and cost) is?

Flooded base is a likely candidate.
Unplug, drag it out, place a few towels on the floor and tip it to one side ( don’t lie it flat). If you get water running from underneath this confirms the base has flooded.
Try the machine again, if the fault returns in a very short space of time you may have an internal leak that will need investigation.
You should avoid using 3 in 1, 4 in 1 or 5 in 1 tablets, these often cause oversoaping which floods into the base.

Thanks for the advice.
I’ve taken the base off and can see that the wash drain pump has been leaking. Is this a repairable item or should it just be replaced? How are the clips removed and should these be replaced with jubilee clips?
When I have it running now, the machine runs for about thirty seconds, then stops for about 15, then runs again and repeats this cycle until it finishes.
Is this part of the pump problem or something else going wrong?

The ‘Wash’ or circulation pump/motor is different to the drain pump. As you mention clips I assume you are talking about the circulation pump. This item is almost £70.00 ex vat.
If your machine is under 5 years old your best course of action may be to take advantage of the five year parts guarantee. You will have to pay the £90.00 labour charge however.
The stopping and starting suggests the pump may be overheating and tripping its internal overload protection device. It is not wise to continue running this appliance with such a leak.
