ParticipantI have a BFI620. The left LED is flashing as normal, but when I press the “P” button nothing happens. I have tried mains disconnect and I have pulled the unit out and tipped as an earlier response mention flood protection, but I don’t think the LED is flashing fast enough. The dishwasher is still pulled out at the moment so a quick response would be appreciated. I am an ex sparky so tackling a fault does not daunt me, but I could really do with some advice.
Cheers
Andy.

Have you tried pressing and holding the P button, sad to say the Indesit made dishwashers do have rather suspect electronics though.
Repairing most modern Indesit machines daunt many of those who have been in the trade for years. 😥
1st led flashing is supposed to signify water in the base.

Yes tried that. When the machine is first switched on it beeps then the LED starts flashing which all seem ok, then — nothing.

Once you have isolated from mains you could try tipping it over fully onto its left hand side, looking from the front, place a few good sized towels underneath it first. You should be able to remove the base and at least do a visual inspection, check for signs of water on the base, sticking float switch or float microswitch.

Thanks Jim,
In the end I opened up the door and looked at the controller inside. The unit had moved slightly so the rocking programme switch was not making contact with the button on the pcb. I have repositioned it and now you get that positive clicking sound when the P button is pressed. All is OK.

They do need treating with kid gloves, very easy to break the fixings on the control buttons.
