ParticipantI have a hotpoint BFV62b which is stopping in every cycle and showing lights 1 & 2 (counting from the left) flashing.
I gather from other posts that is likely to to be a drain time out error. I have tried replacing the pump, which had a broken lug on it. I can power the pump independently and it runs fine both on the bench and to empty the machine, so there appears to be no blockage. Does this make the control PCB the most likely source of the error or can someone advise an alternative.
Thanks for reading this and taking time to reply

When you start any programme can you actually hear the drain pump trying to run, it should be the first thing energised on any programme.
On some models the drain pump is in circuit with the main wash pump motor so an open circuit main motor would stop the drain pump from running.
Sometimes the main motor will run for a while and then the internal TOC will trip, this would stop the drain pump from running.

Thanks for the reply. I have just double checked before replying. There is no sound from either motor. What happens is an initial beep that indicates something is going to happen, a longish pause with no pump running then water is allowed into the machine. This shuts off and then silence for around 10 minutes when the two lights start to flash.
NB There doesn’t seeme to have been much posted on this machine so it may not be well known. From my searches it seems to share a control PCB with the following models – so I sssume it must be quite similar to one or more of them – if you happen to know any of these rather better

Sadly I know all of them only too well, every one of them is low quality Indesit under the skin. 😥
The reason I said some models is that it is serial number ( age ) specific. 😉
You need to put a meggar or multimeter across your main motor.

Thanks – I don’t have a megger but have used multimeter it shows 200k ohm between motor and ground which I think means that it is shot doesn’t it? I can’t find this item on whoite goods website – I think part number is either C00077118 or 077118 – do you know any better?

That is the correct part number.

Thanks again for your help with this. I ordered the spare pump and was really optimistic that this might be the final answer
Having replaced the pump, the machine starts up and allows water in for a minute or so and starts rinsing – so far so good – significant progress compared with just filling with water!
However after about 10 minutes lights one and two start flashing whilst the main pump continues to run. If I open the door and close it the cycle just continues
The water level in the bottom of the machine seems to be right – essentially it just covers the bottom of the machine
Are you able to give me any pointers as to where I go next with this, assuming its not just the nearest skip!?

That might be the best option, it will join many of its stablemates there. :rolls:
There is always a possiblity that if the main motor has gone down to earth it may have corrupted the PCB.
Any further suggestions would just be guesswork. 😥

Many thanks – it was the PCB! Dishwasher now operational again. Probably spent too much on it but at least didn’t have to go out and buy another Hotpoint! – which seems to be the only make that fits the decor panel on the front
Seriously, this forum and IADOM help got me through diagnosing and repairing this fault – many thanks
(Minor questions – if you have time..
– the dishwasher wash cycle takes forever, ie close to 2 hours because it continually stops and starts multiple rinses after the wash cycle is finished. I suspect it shouldn’t do this but it always has – is there any way of changing this?
– The power neon flickers constantly when it is powered on whether it is doing anything or not – I suspect just a faulty neon – does it matter?)

Neon flickering is not uncommon, not usually a problem.
Programme times.

Pre-wash with hot water at
40°C
Extended wash at 65°
2 cold rinses
Hot rinse at 65°C

dishes.
Standard daily cycle
Wash at 50°C
Cold rinse
Hot rinse at 70°C
Drying
30 g – Time 72 mins.Eco Environmentally friendly
cycle with low energy
consumption levels,
suitable for normally dirty
pans and dishes
2 cold pre-washes
Extended wash at 50°C
Hot rinse at 65°C
Drying
5 + 25 g – Time 130 mins.Soaking Preliminary wash cycle for
dishes while awaiting
completion of the load

next meal. Time 12 mins. You cannot alter these times.
In truth it only actually takes you a couple minutes to wash your dishes, one minute to load the dishes in and one minute to take them out. 😉
