Hotpoint brush life?

    Hi,

We had the brushes replaced last year after 5 problem free years of use from our Hotpoint WM63 (I think that’s the model number). It received fairly heavy use in that time due to us using cloth nappies for our children.

Exactly a year on, the brushes have almost completely worn down again.

    Is this
    a) normal, or
    b) because we were supplied poor quality brushes by the repairman, or
    c) an indication of another problem.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers,
    B.

The original brushes would have been the “laminated” type, in a white plastic holder. Most repairers fit the standard brushes in the black holders, due to problems with getting new laminate brushes to bed in properly. A naughty few do use pattern brushes, which are too soft for reasonable brush life.

However, consider that your kids are in nappies, so the machine has had at least four years of “light duties”, before the deluge of laundry brought about by children!

Ideally, ask your repairer if he is using p/no 161460 brushes – the number is on the packet.

    Regards,

To be honest, I have no problems at all with the 1600474 laminated brushes in the later white holders as long as the comm is in good condition and they last longer than 161460’s.

Would never, ever fit pattern ones.

Cheers for the replies folks. It’s my guess that the £50 I spent was wasted on pattern parts then (that included diagnosis and fitting – should have found here first 😳 )

The old brushes had 3 years of cloth nappy use before giving out, so I expected better from these. Can anybody recommend a reliable supplier for genuine laminated brushes? I don’t trust those on eBay to actually be genuine…
