Never used one, I use a flat bladed, right angled screwdriver, insert it behind the tab to depress and slide out the brush holder. Easy to do with motor in situ.
Jim.
EDIT. Just found some in an old Qualtex catalogue, MIS.76.

75p flat blade screwdriver from B&Q heated up and bent to 90 degrees in the vice.
Also invaluable for pulling off kitchen plinths without tearing your knuckles off. 😉Steve.

A good quality pair of bent nose pliers, if the ends are small enough then they can be used to release the tab as well.

I do use the Hotpoint tool for the one side but it is a very cheap & nasty thing with no serrations to grip the brush holder.

Tabs on recent gen brushes are a right pain in the botty.
Screwdriver for me.February 10, 2010 at 11:00 pm #311607leavemetogetonwithit

Right angled pliers for me. Mine are about ten inches long 8) .
Can depress the tab and grab the body of the holder in one action.
Also useful for closing various door seal clamps as they open very wide. Useful for difficult to access hose clips too.
Mike.
This is what they look like,

Screwdriver for me.I used to use a small terminal driver but you are correct, they have become much harder to get at.
I saved a top, rear WM restraint spring that had snapped off, its perfect for lifting the tabs. 8)

A bit quiet this week but normally get 8 or 10 brush changes a week, possibly as many WMA as WM these days.
