    We have a Hotpoint BU72 double oven. It tripped the main breaker, after which the lights still worked but the bottom oven didn’t get hot. The Forum pointed me to the fan element – I confirmed it was open circuit and had a hole in it, ordered a spare from here (very fast delivery) and fitted it.

    I’ve just edited this post to remove my query about why the fan wasn’t working when I tested the oven – which was because I had the door open!

    Hello Forum,
    I see two people have had a problem the Hotpoint BU72 bottom oven blowing out the RCD. The light and fan still work but there is not heat. Any advice please as to what bit needs replacing and a part number/description. Many thanks.

    Hi Roger,

    The part I replaced (your symptoms sound the same) was
    this one

    I don’t remember exactly what I had to take apart but it wasn’t hard. Power off, and look at the back wall of the oven for screws to undo!
